CATALOGUE NOTE

Marot, a French architect and designer, fled France in 1685 after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes. He went to Holland where he became architect to William of Orange, and followed him to England when he became William III.

Each of these works was part of a series of architectural and ornamental details and plans, issued separately but often bound with others from the series.
