Lewis Christian Edward Baumer, British 1870-1963- "Chelsea Host: Sorry old man, I ought to have told you, we're quite alone- you needn't have bothered to dress yourself up", from the Punch Library, also featured in the Weekend Saturday April 15 1995; pen and black ink, bears inscription in pencil on the mount, 21.5x29.5cm: together with one other pen and ink cartoon of three figures on a pier by a related hand, 16.4x9cm: After Pierre Brissaud, French 1885-1964- "Que C'est Bon! ou Les Boissons Glacees", from Gazette du Bon Ton; hand-coloured lithograph, signed and dated 1921 within the plate, 20.5x15cm (3), (may be subject to Droit de Suite) Provenance: from the Estate of Ronald Dennis Parkinson 1945-2012, he was a prominent art historian, the former head of education and lecturer at the V&A Museum and author of important books on British painting. He compiled the 'V&A's Catalogue of British Oil Paintings 1820-1860' and 'John Constable, The Man and his Art'.
