This and the following two lots were once part of a volume of costume designs which belonged to the Marquis de Carails. The designs were made for four dramas performed at the Reale Teatro, Turin, including Calipso and Talemacho. The volume's title described the artist as designer to King Vittorio Amadeo III of Sardinia, and was dated 1777, by which time Marini had been designing costumes for the theatre for eight years.
