LEON HICKS (1933 - )
Winged Justice.

Etching, engraving, drypoint and aquatint, 1963. 864x585 mm; 34x23 inches, 1 1/2-2 inch margins. Signed, titled, dated and numbered 8/38 in pencil, lower margin. 3-inch tear, lower margin, with scratches and abrasions scattered across lower half of the image. A dark impression of this experimental print.

This expressive, early work shows the large influence of the printmaker and professor Mauricio Lasansky with whom Hicks studied for his M.F.A. at the University of Iowa.
