Pencil on papier-calque, circa 1850. 423x290 mm; 16 3/4x11 1/2 inches. With the artist's ink stamp (Lugt supplement 228c, lower left recto).

Done in Rome as a preliminary sketch for the finished drawing in black chalk, wash and white heightening, now in a private collection, Paris, dedicated to Mme. Bellay.
