Lot 64: LARGE OIL ON CANVAS SHIP PORTRAIT "FEARLESS" FLYING AMERICAN FLAG BY CHARLES TORREY (1859-1921).

Three-mast ship in full sail sails right to left in blue/green/white sea. Green and yellow hull flying flags off mast. Signed and titled bottom right and dated 1914. Housed in its original gilt frame. The Peabody Museum has 8 examples of this Boston area artist. SIZE: 26" h x 42" w. CONDITION: Small area of cracking and lifting of paint in sail, otherwise very good. 9-9179$ $65 IMPORTANT AND RARE CHIPPENDALE BALL AND CLAW FOOT MAHOGANY TESTER BED. Front two posts are stop-fluted which ends in ring turnings. Well carved knee with leaf carving. Small punch and stipple decoration around carved leaves, large ball with long carved talons. Top of post has ring turning with square-block top continuing to a simple turning. Brass end caps over bolt holes. Foot board posts are tapered octagon-carved. Simple pine head board may be replacement. This bed comes from a fine home in Bangor, Maine. Has some of the attributions of known Salem, Massachusetts beds.
