Where d'Hue is born exactly is unknown, but he is first mentioned in Amsterdam in 1651. When he moved to The Hague in 1663/4, and joined the Confrerie Pictura in 1664, he had to pay an admission fee of 18 guilders, which indicates he was not a native of The Hague.υ1 He returned to Amsterdam in 1665, where he stayed active as a portraitist for most of the remainder of his life. 1.
