Description

We are pleased to offer this signed Watercolor and Pencil from Mads Stage. Professionally framed and matted. Mads Stage born in Copenhagen, (6 July 1922-28 May 2004) was a respected and beloved artist in large parts of the world. His enormous production includes design and decoration of everything from postcards, posters, calendars, stamps and books to porcelain, textiles and much more. Mads Stage has among others illustrated Henry David Thoreau's Walden, or Life in the Woods, Ivan Turgenev's The Hunter's Sketches, fairy tales by Hans Christian Andersen and children's books by Danish author Jens Fink-Jensen.He was educated at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. His favorite scenes are animals and birds of which he was a great connoisseur, but as a versatile artist, he designed artistic textiles, fine articles for everyday use, decoration of china and textile printing. For many years, Mads Stage worked for the Danish medical industry and made a large number of scientific drawings. Further he was a master of city scenes and landscapes and he produced splendid series of water colours from Copenhagen, Stockholm, London, Scotland, Holland, Paris, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and the USA. pencil watercolor rendering NY pub library
