Signed and inscribed ‘Kurt-Weinhold-Calw’, as well as dated and inscribed ‘Juli 38 / Insel Marken. Holland’
Sheet dimensions: 20 x 30 cm
Provenance: Private collection, Germany

Condition:
The sheet is mounted under a mat to the upper margin and minimally discolored. Overall very good condition.

Kurt Weinhold (1896-1965)
Born in Berlin, Kurt Weinhold was the son of the painter Carl Weinhold, who trained him in painting. In 1911, the family moved to Munich, which was followed by Weinhold’s moving to Baden-Württemberg in 1922. In 1934 he was awarded the Rome Prize of the Prussian Academy of Arts and stayed for a year in Rome and Florence. In 1937 he exhibited at the Große Deutsche Kunstausstellung. Whereas Weinhold’s early works were influenced by realism, his later works feature a tendency towards figurative abstraction and surrealism beginning in the late 1940s. (cko)
