NOTE

Konstantin Vyalov was a Moscow artist who studied under the greatest masters of the Russian avant-garde: Lentulov, Kandinsky and Tatlin. Their influences directed him to make stylistic choices in line with the Suprematist philosophy. He attempted at incorporating the concept of montage into his painting, by layering flat shapes of color to create imagery; this tendancy can still be seen in his later social realist work of the late 30s and 40s. Vyalov worked in all mediums, but is most renowned for his success in the graphic arts. His work has been exhibited internationally in Paris (1925), Berlin (1928), Venice (1932), New York (1933), London (1934), among others.
