Sedelmayr, Jacob Wanger, Johann August Corvinus, Johan Jacob Graesmann, Jacob Gottlieb Thelott, Gottfried Pfauz, Georg Lichtensteger, Johann Georg Weber, Jacob Andreas Friedrich, et al. (A few plates with imprints shaved or cropped, pale dampstain in lower corner of part 7.) Contemporary German sprinkled calf, gilt spine, marbled edges (a few pale stains, a few small repairs). Provenance: Schloss Dyck (sold Venator, September 1992, lot 1397); acquired from Ars Libri, 1992. FIRST EDITION, including the rare supplementary book, of this magnificent record of the palaces and residences of Prince Eugene of Savoy in and near Vienna and a charming supplementary work describing his menagerie. The superb plates delineate the work of the architect J.L. von Hildbrand, the interiors of Claude le Fort du Plessy and others, and the gardens and fountains of Dominique Girard. Throughout the scenes are enlivened by numerous elegantly dressed figures, promenading or in conversation. The scarce supplementary suite shows the exotic animals of Prince Eugene's menagerie, established at the Belvedere in 1716 on the model of that at Versailles. The palace "Favorita" was built on the banks of the Rhine: its interiors, exteriors and gardens are all here represented, from drawings by the "Ingenieur" to the Electoral court, in charming detail.
