Notes

"My chosen medium for artist expression is porcelain, and I employ highly decorative patterns and designs to make concrete yet abstract sculptures, and sometimes color the porcelain or attach a kiln-fired picture on it. When you consider my works, perhaps they generate associations to fairy tales, legend or even ceremonial objects of worship. My decision in using ceramics as the medium to express my artistic vision is because I see common characteristics of nervousness, fragility and sensitiveness in ceramics and the modern society. Excessive and decorative expressions of contemporary society also contain certain hazardous fragility. My works however are deeply personal, perhaps they are an extreme and intensified visual representation of my dreams and aspirations; in other words, my artistic expression requires me to delve into my inner heart, and meet the image which was asleep within me, or in dialogue with illusion, dreams, reverence and fear. If you think about it, these characteristics can come from a mysterious (mystical) personal experience. In my generation, the more enlightening science, technology and civilization have become, the more pronounced the shadow of its negative effects becomes in our minds."
