Karoly Fulop, born in Hungary, distinguished himself in both Europe and America as a painter, and sculptor. Studying art in his native Hungary, as well as Germany and France, his work reflected the topics and concerns of modern art and the Secessionist movements but as interpreted through Medieval and Byzantine eyes, uniting or juxtaposing symbolist and religious stylistic devices. Moving to the United states in 1920, first to New York and then eventually settling in California.
