PROVENANCE

Collection Rastoion-Bremond(?), Paris (according to a text on the reverse);
Anonymous sale, Frankfurt am Main, Rudolf Bangel, 12-13 February 1901, lot 35 (as Jan van Huysum);
Anonymous sale, Berlin, Spik, 20-22 October 2005, lot 435 (as Justus van Huysum).

NOTE

We are grateful to Fred G. Meijer for confirming the attribution to Justus van Huysum on the basis of photographs.

Justus van Huysum, father of the more famous Jan van Huysum (1682-1749), seemed to be primarily active as a painter of interior decorations, see for example the flower still lifes painted for Cannenburgh Castle in Vaassen.
