Notes

Provenance: Imao Keinen Collection, Kyoto

Jurojin is one of the Seven Lucky Gods associated with longevity. In this hanging scroll, Taiga has painted the god as an elderly scholar swaying to music as he leans on a staff. The presence of musicians further adds to the light-hearted nature of the painting, an aspect often seen in Taiga's work.
