NOTE

This Roman landscape was probably painted by Steinkopf between 1841 and 1844, at the time when he was staying in Rome. Several of his works, most of them lavish drawings, are known from a sketchbook that was, until the first quarter of the 20th century, attributed to his father and master, the painter Gottlob Friedrich Steinkopf (1778-1860).
