CATALOGUE NOTE

first edition. Jousse was a silversmith by trade and the present work contains fine illustrations of designs for locks, keys, door-handles, bolts, bells, brackets, well-heads, window-grilles, a rolling-chair and prosthetics. This book may well have been intended as a companion volume to Jousse's Le Théâtre de l'art de charpentier, first published by Griveau in the same year. A supposed 1624 edition of the present work is unsubstantiated.
