H.R.H. Princess Mary, Duchess of Gloucester (1776-1857), 4th daughter of King George III.
H.R.H. Prince George, 2nd Duke of Cambridge (1819-1904), Princess Mary's nephew.
Thence by direct descent to the current owner.

Joshua Dolby was an artist who travelled widely on the continent and painted views in Prague, Rome, Switzerland, Malta, and The Netherlands. He exhibited work at the Royal Academy in 1840 and 1846 and painted many views of Eton and Windsor.
