and titled on stretcher. Ropes was born in Salem, MA. He studied at the National Academy of Design. He traveled to Italy from 1865-1876. Ropes exhibited in the Centennial Expo in Philadelphia in 1876, upon his return, and then maintained a studio in Germantown for 10 years. He died in New York City.
