Joseph Domjan (1907-1992), Hungarian MENTHA PIPERITA; BIRD; HEART; BULL; LIFETREE PEACOCK; CURSED AGONY; LOVE; AND OTHER FOLK DESIGNS AND SUBJECTS; Nineteen woodcuts on 18 sheets (one a zinc print), four printed in colour; 16 signed (one in the plate) in pencil, five titled in pencil, artist's proofs, one numbered 1/35 in pencil to margin. Various sizes, 8 are in the larger format and 11 smaller, 4 duplicates. 15 unframed. Sheet 23" x 17.75" - 58.4 x 45.1 cm.; 20" x 13" - 50.8 x 33 cm.; 8" x 3.5" - 20.3 x 8.9 cm.

Notes

Note:In 1955, Domjan was invited by the Ambassador t China to exhibit his woodcuts and lecture in China. He was awarded the title of "Master of Colour Woodcuts" awarded by the Chinese only once in each century. Domjan was the first and only non-Chinese living artist ever to achieve this award.
