A self-portrait, bust-length signed 'Boze p[eint]. p[ar]. lui mˆme' pastel 101/4 x 91/2 in. (258 x 242 mm.) PROVENANCE Marie-Claudine-Ursule Boze, daughter of the artist, by descent to Eulalie Jeanjean dit Lejean, by descent to his grandson Charles Leroux de la Joukaire, according to the letter glued to the backboard. NOTES A Boze self-portrait, of 1782, was given to the Louvre in 1866 by Victoire Boze, another daughter of the artist (G. Mounier, Pastels XVIIŠme et XVIIIŠme siŠcles, Paris, 1972, no. 30). It is signed in a similar way.
