The schooner Annie Lewis was launched in 1863 and "mysteriously disappeared after leaving Cedar Key, Florida for Tampico Mexico". This important painting depicts "the Annie Lewis" under full sale in the Narrows, the maritime gateway to New York. Forts Hamilton and Wadsworth are depicted. The American flag, pennant and starred standard are unfurled and flutter under a colorful sky. A row boat with passenger heads for shore. The namesake painting is being offered for sale by Annie Lewis's descendent.
