Description

John Walsh Walsh (1850-1951). The Twelve Labours of Hercules, after design by Walter Gilbert. A vestibule lighting panel field comprising six frosted relief panels depicting Hercules each moulded 'G.Sc.R.fec.', 10" square, a further centre boss panel, sixteen relief moulded panels depicting a Toby jug, 10" square, and an assortment of muted colour panels 6.25" by 10" (over forty). Provenance: These panels were removed by the vendor from The Toby Jug Public House on Friar Lane in Nottingham. The pub was refurbished in 1931 and this ties in with the short run of this 1929 registered run of 'Vesta' glass produced by The Walsh Walsh Factory. Reference bibliography.
