Description

John Tinney after "Rembrant," Book of Lions, first half of the 18th c., suite of 11 engravings on laid paper, the frontispiece titled "A Book of Lions Done from the Designs of Rembrant." Each attractively matted and framed under glass. John Tinney (d. 1761) was an engraver and print seller whose shop was located "at the Golden Lion near the Globe Tavern in Fleet Street, London." DOA 10.5" x 12.5" The estate of former U.S. Ambassador Findley Burns, Jr. Not examined out of the frames.
