Description

Artist: John LINES John Lines was born in 1938 in Rugby Warwickshire. He studied art in Warwickshire at Rugby Polytechnic from 1959 and then at York School of Art from 1961 to 1962. Lines has been exhibiting his contemporary paintings since leaving art school. But initially his time was shared between art activities and working in Industry. John Lines paintings are distinctive and beautifully painted. His style is very much Modern British and Lines prefers painting in oil and watercolours. As an artist his stated aim is to 'Simply paint through honest eyes'. Ample evidence of this approach can be seen in his paintings of British Urban scenes and English Landscapes subjects. John Lines paintings are varied. His art captures humour, nostalgia, romance and the beauty of British Countryside and everyday British Urban Life. Lines is equally successful painting landscapes, marine, portrait, transportation or what will in future years be seen as fine, social records of urban life. John travels extensively to find the right British scenes for his paintings. He regularly features Derbyshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Northampton, Nottinghamshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Yorkshire in his contemporary paintings. John Lines has contemporary paintings in private and public art collections throughout the world. He has held workshops and lectures in Australia and USA. Lines also regularly holds lectures, workshops and demonstrations throughout the British Isles. John Lines has many notable art successes including : First Prize - Museum of Modern Art, Wales; First Prize Royal Society of Marine Artists; and Awards at the RSBA. Lines has also featured as Master Class Painter in International Artist magazine. His work is always in demand and increasingly collectable. Payment

Payment: All items purchased in person must be paid for on sale day. All items purchased via absentee or phone bid must be paid for within three business days of sale date. If a buyer fails to contact Chandler's Auctions and Estate Sales within three business days following the sale, the credit card used to secure the bid will be charged the amount of the invoice. For items purchased through Invaluable or Auction Zip, Chandler's Auctions and Estate Sales will contact and send an invoice to all winning bidders via e-mail at the completion of the auction. Payment or contact is required within five days of invoices being electronically sent or within 10 days of auction. If you do not see an invoice within two days of the sale, contact Shannon at info@chandlersauction.com If paying by check, Chandler's Auctions and Estate Sales reserves the right to hold the item(s) until the check has cleared. Payment can be made by cash, approved certified funds, Visa, and MC (phone payment/fax/ or in gallery only). International bidders will be required to pay by wire transfer unless prior arrangements have been made. At the auctioneer's discretion, certain lots will be required to be paid for by wire transfer. All invoices of $1000 or more must be paid by certified funds.
