Oil on canvas, 31 3/4 x 47 13/8 in. (81.0 x 120.3 cm), framed.
Condition: Patch reinforcements, scattered retouch, craquelure, mild canvas deformation at corners, mild surface grime.

Provenance: Bernaerts, Antwerp, Belgium, Art et Antiquités, Monday, June 21, 2010, Lot 474.

N.B. The scene shows the rescue of passengers from the sinking Eugene Borda saved by a vessel from the Antwerp Red Star Line.

Condition Report

There are two repairs (one 4 inches and one 1 inch) lower left. Neither repair effects the signature. There is also additional minor scattered retouch. The work might would benefit from cleaning.
