Lady Georgina Frances Spencer (1832-1852) and John Poyntz Spencer (1835-1910) were the two eldest children of was of Vice-Admiral Frederick Spencer, 4th Earl Spencer and Georgiana Elizabeth Poyntz. On the death of his father in 1857 John became the 5th Earl.
