The present portrait of Walker's patron, Frederic Leighton, was exhibited at the R.A. in 1877. The Art Journal wrote 'The portrait which we most affect in Gallery IV is that of F.Leighton Esq., R.A. in a brown velvet jacket. We are glad to see that the artist, J.Hanson Walker, has really risen to the height of the subject".
