Provenance

Frederick Standfield (1916-2004), Forge Cottage, East Meon, Hampshire, and by inheritance to the vendor.

Notes

Frederick Standfield wrote two books on shooting, Syndicate Shooting (1961), and Pheasant Shooting (1963), numberous articles for The Shooting Times, and more recently A History of East Meon (1984), the village in which he lived. He also formed a notable collection of sporting pictures including a number of watercolours by Archibald Thorburn.
