Four silhouettes of Gentlemen: Charles James Fox (1749–1806), profile to the right, after a bust by Joseph Nollekens; A double-sided portrait of William Pitt (1759–1806), profile to the right and a Gentleman, profile to the left; and a Gentleman, wearing coat, stock and cravat.
The first two painted on a blue ground on ivory, the first two, signed under the truncation Field, gold frames, the first with pearl border.

Charles James Fox was a prominent British Whig politician, known for his charismatic speeches. During his career he utilised this talent as an anti-slavery campaigner, a supporter of American independence and a supporter of the French Revolution. He held several government offices, including Foreign Secretary under Lord Grenville.

William Pitt, became the youngest 'Prime Minister' in 1783 at the age of 24. He left office in 1801, but was Prime Minister again from 1804 until his death in 1806. He is known as "William Pitt the Younger" to distinguish him from his father, William Pitt the Elder, who previously served as Prime Minister.
