Born in Powell County, Indiana, John Weis moved to the Cincinnati area at a young age. After taking night classes at the Art Academy, Weis was offered a faculty position there, which he held for thirty-eight years. Weis excelled in capturing the regional scenes of New England and Ohio with his loose yet expressive brushwork. Minor craquelure and perimeter frame rub.
