Condition Report

The canvas has an old relining and is slightly loose. The paint surface is slightly worn throughout but remains stable. However the wearing of the paint surface is not major, and the overall effect is still luminous. The canvas has recently been cleaned. There has a minor knock to the canvas in the sky upper centre, and another to the left of the castle in the background, but these have not come through the canvas completely. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals an uneven varnish, a small area of retouching in the foliage right. There are very few scattered retouchings in the sky. This lot is offered in a carved and gilt wood frame, the surface has aged but in good condition otherwise.
