Note: "A characteristic feature of Joanassie's [animal] sculptures is an upstretched [sic] head with open mouth. This gives the work a sense of movement, as do the strong diagonal and vertical lines... Another distinctive feature of [his] carvings is the almond-shaped eye-type, carefully carved in the stone."
