Lot 53: Jessie Willcox Smith (American, 1863-1935)

"Dollie's Day" ("Laundry Day"). Charcoal, watercolor/gouache and oil on illustration board, ca. 1932, signed along the lower left, framed under glass in a gilt wood frame, overall 21-3/4" x 17-3/4". Provenance: artist's collection, by descent in the family to Catharine Willcox Augustine, to the current owner. Accompanied by a photocopy of a loan agreement for exhibition "The Studios at Cogslea", February 20-March 28, 1976, The Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington. Also an original cover from "Good Housekeeping", July 1932, for which this illustration was used.
