oval, 3 1/16 in. (80 mm.) high, gilt-metal mount with foliate and beaded surround, inscribed on the wooden backing board 'Thomas Hayley born 1780 painted by Meyer 1783 con amore'; a paper label on the backing board is similarly inscribed
