Lot 49: JEREMIAH DAVISON (C. 1695-1745) PORTRAIT OF JOHN, LORD GLENORCHY (1738-1771)

Half length, wearing a blue coat and a white satin waistcoat edged with gold, and lace collar and cuffs Inscribed l.l. with the identity of the sitter, oil on canvas, in a painted oval, in a carved wood frame 74 by 62 cm.; 29 1/4 by 24 1/2 in. The sitter was the son of John, 3rd Earl of Breadalbane (1696-1782) and his second wife, Arabella Pershall. On 26th September 1761 he married Willhelma daughter and co-heir of William Maxwell of Preston.
