EXHIBITED:
Chicago, Illinois, World's Columbian Exposition, 1893.

Held in honor of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the New World, the World's Columbian Exposition had a profound effect on art and architecture in late 19th Century America. The Exposition covered more than 600 acres in Chicago and over 27 million people attended during its six-month run. The Woman's Building was the first of its kind at a world's fair: both the interior and exterior design was planned by women to house arts and crafts by women. Artists from all over the world were selected to exhibit and Jenny Villebesseyx was one of the French artists chosen.
