An established artist, Jansen usually worked in a figurative style as his sparse but moving pieces most often depict women, however this still life is a rare edition, brimming with a simple story. He began drawing at a young age and later studied at the École des Arts Decoratifs. Since 1951 Jean Jansem has exhibited around the world, and his paintings form a part of collections in museums worldwide. He has held exhibitions of his work in France and in other countries and major cities like Rome, Palermo, Lausanne, New-York, Chicago, Palm Beach, London, Brussels, Montréal, Tokyo, Osaka, Beirut, Sao Paolo, Johannesburg, Germany, Art Expo New York and Los Angeles.
