FIVE JADE ANIMAL CARVINGS & A JADE DRUM-SHAPED BEAD

Late Qing Dynasty

The elephant resting on four feet, the head and the trunk swept to the left, pierced under the elephant's ear for stringing, the pale stone stained black in areas; the slender hound resting its head between the paws, pierced under the chin, the pale stone altered brown and russet; the pug in a recumbent pose with its head raised, pierced under the jaw, the pale stone stained black in areas; the recumbent dog turning its head back towards the tail, pierced under the chin over the back, the white stone stained black in areas; the mythical beast crouching on a circular block, perforated under the chin, the underside inscribed with two seal characters, the pale stone altered black and brown in areas; the small bead carved in the shape of a drum, decorated with a row of bosses on either end, perforated through the waist for stringing, the 'chicken bone' stone stained black at one end. Animals: 1 1/16in to 2in (2.7cm to 5.1cm) long;
Drum: 11/16in (1.8cm) high

Overall in good condition. Minor surface pitting and wear, some of which may be intentional. Tiny old nicks to edges. Stones altered to induce colors and textures for the appearance of antiquity.
