Idyllic fores) landscape with Brook, flute player, washer woman and a hamlet. Washed ink drawing (pencil, ink, watercolor) in several tones of sepia. In a handmade passe-partout. On laid paper with French lily watermark.

Very good condition with only slight discolouring at top left corner.

Literature

Jan Apeldoorn (Amersfoort, 27 January 1765 – 10 February 1838) was a Dutch artist and art teacher. He is best known for his drawings. He was also a painter of miniatures, oil paintings and watercolors. He created landscapes, cityscapes, portraits and genre pieces.He learned by Jordanus Horn. He drew and painted forest and dune-like landscapes on spots in Gelderland and Utrecht. Around 1788, he moved to Utrecht. Here he stayed around fifty years and he also made another journey through Germany. He was teacher of, among other things, Countess Dorothea Nahuys and Cecile of judge and first Chamber-President Jacob Constantine M. Villarreal. King Louis Napoleon Bonaparte appointed him around 1807/1808 to tekenmeester at the Royal Pages. Here also had the title Professor in the drawing of the court. He was unmarried and died in February 1838 on 73-year-old age. Despite that his hometown of Utrecht had been for years, he died in front of his family in his hometown. in March 1839 were 18 paintings and drawings of his hand offered for sale during an art sale in Amsterdam.

The European consumer protection and, in particular, the strict Belgian implementation is applicable. A private citizen if resident of the European Community can return the item for a full refund within 14 days after receipt without limitation of his other rights as provided by the European consumer protection.

Payments must be made in full within 7 business days after receipt of the invoice. The auction house preserves the right to charge the credit card of the buyer 7 days after the auction if not paid before, this according the authorization given by the buyer during the registering process of his credit card on the auction platform of Invaluable.
No responsibility will be taken for the lots if not paid within the prescribed period.

If a lot is not paid in full within 2 weeks, an interest will be charged of 12% a year. If full payment is not made after one month old master print reserves the right to resell the lots and charge the original defaulting bidder with both the difference and the expenses incurred.

All items are sold using the Margin Scheme and it should be noted that the VAT included in bid price and premium is not recoverable as input tax.
