A young gentleman, facing left in double-breasted blue coat with gilt buttons, white waistcoat and knotted cravat, centre-parted powdered hair; cloudy sky background signed and dated 'Scouler 1795' (upper right) oval, 2 3/8 in. (60 mm.) high, silver-gilt frame with translucent blue guilloch‚ enamel border flanked by two white enamel stripes, the reverse centred with a lock of brown hair bound with a scrolling gold bow on an oval translucent blue glass plaque on a radiant wavy guilloch‚ foil with plaited brown hair surround within gold ribbon-twist borders.
