Description

James McCray (1912 - 1993) Circus Clown Figure gouache on paper. Signed and dated lower right. At UC he was greatly influenced by his teachers Worth Ryder and John Haley. His teaching experience included UC Berkeley (1935-40, 1947-80), California School of Fine Arts (San Francisco) (1940-46), San Francisco Museum of (modern) Art (1941-43), and Santa Barbara College (1951). EXHIBITIONS Oakland Art Gallery, 1935; Golden Gate International Exposition, 1940; San Francisco Art Association Annual Painting and Sculpture Exhibitions at the San Francisco Museum of Art, 1937 -57th, 1940 - 60th, 1942 - 62nd, 1945 - 65th - awarded Anne Bremer Memorial Prize for abstract painting titled 'Reticulation'. Any property purchased through auction will not be refundable, returnable, or exchangeable, and that no refund will be issued under any circumstances. We accept all major credit cards, wire transfers, checks, money transfers, and Paypal {paypal}. We also now accept payment through Invaluable's credit card processing system. If winning bidders do not contact auction house within 5 business days to make payment, their credit card on file will be charged to cover invoice charge.

Shipping Terms

Sales Tax

Any in-house bidders or online bidders who reside in the state of Florida are charged a 7% sales tax. Please email us a copy of your Florida Resale Certificate to have tax removed.

Condition Reports

The import and export of goods may be subject to authorisation (export certificates, customs authorisations). It is the buyer's responsability to check which authorisations are required.

The buyer may not take receipt of any lot until such time as he/she has paid all amounts due in full delivery of the goods.
In the event of a payment by cheque or bank transfer, delivery of the goods may be deferred until such time as the payment has cleared.
In this case, storage costs shall be borne by the buyer and TAJAN shall incur no liability whatsoever in this respect.
