Notes

The Royal Academy occupied a building on the south side of Pall Mall from its foundation in 1769 until 1771 when it moved to Somerset House. The Academy was moved again in 1837 to Trafalgar Square and it wasn't until 1868 that it made its final move to its permanent quarters at Burlington House.
When the Academy left the Pall Mall building it was passed onto James Christie who had occupied buildings to the west of it since 1767.
