Description

JAMES JACKSON CURNOCK (British 1839-1891) SPRING. Outstanding large oil on canvas landscape scene shows a tranquil pond inlet with white pond lilies and flower covered banks. Sunlight is showing through a stand of birch trees and large trees hang over the opposing side. Light sky with white wispy clouds. Nice detail including dragonflies above the pond. Signed lower left "J Jackson Carnock 1889". Housed in a magnificent original gesso decorated frame with wide gold liner. Winsor & Newton, London canvas stamp to back. One of the finest works by this artist to come to auction. SIZE: 36" x 52". CONDITION: Very good with two minute chips in pond. 9-72233
