JAMES GOODWIN MCMANUS
American, 1882-1958

"Early Spring, Lyme". Signed and dated lower right "James Goodwin McManus '46". Faintly titled, signed and dated on reverse. McManus is considered one the "deans of Connecticut art". Although his primary studio was at his home in Hartford, CT, he maintained a summer house in Old Lyme from 1922 until his death in 1958. He was a frequent instructor at Guy Wiggins schools in Old Lyme and later in Essex, Ma.

Oil on canvas, 25" x 30". Contemporary gilt frame.
