Notes

Despite the title-page, a relatively late issue of the Jaillot-Mortier Atlas Nouveau, interesting as containing a number of his wall-maps of theatres of war bound in, for examples those of the war in Spain, Italy, Savoy (six sheets), Hungary and the West Indies, and unusually containing some charts from the Suite du Neptune Francois (1700), including 'Amerique Angloise', the Chesapeake Bay, the two of the Carolinas and the map of Darien. The maps of the Duchy of Milan and of Tartary both have pasted titles over the running titles.

As with many composite atlases, the content of the atlas in not always consistent with the index. In this example: Volume I. Index lists 97 subjects (counting the preliminary leaves as 3), 80 maps, 14 engraved leaves of tables, and a further 46 engraved tables not listed; Volume II. Index lists 98 subjects (including the 3 preliminary leaves), 88 maps (counted as 86), 15 engraved leaves of tables (counted as 9) and a further 29 engraved tables not listed,
