NOTE

This painting, by Blanchard with some possible studio assistance, is one of three versions of this subject by the artist. One is in the Musée des Beaux-Arts, Lyon and the other is in the Pushkin Palace, Tsarkoe-Selo (see J. Thuillier, Literature below).

This painting was also engraved by Nicolas de La Court around 1639-1642 (Bibliothèque Nationale, Cabinet des Estampes, Paris).
