Notes



An elaborate design for a dish with four compartments divided by winged tritons and with a central oval with an allegorical figure of a river god. The four compartments depict: Diana and Actaeon, Latona and the Lycian farmers, Diana and her Nymphs bathing, and The Rape of Europa. A weaker version of the same design, in the Victoria and Albert Museum, was catalogued by P. Ward-Jackson as a copy after Salviati. (1)
