NOTE

This is very typical of the style of Bertoia when strongly influenced by Parmigianino. It can be compared with a number of surviving studies by the artist (see, for example, a red chalk drawing, reproduced in Diana De Grazia, Bertoia, Mirola and the Farnese Court, Bologna 1991, no. D31, fig. 66).
