Description

THREE BLUE AND WHITE VASES

Kangxi

Comprising a barrel-bodied vase painted in bright cobalt shades with prunus and rockwork with a flying bird on one side, all above a tall flaring foot with leafy sprays and below aster or pinks on the slightly sloping shoulder, the cylindrical neck with circlets and
ruyi lappets; a small mallet vase with lotus flowerheads on swirling leafy stems that encircle the body and continue midway up the slightly waisted cylindrical neck to leaf lappets below the rim; and a miniature baluster vase and cover with six lightly molded lotus petal panels painted with floral sprays and rockwork, an artemisia leaf mark to the base. barrel-bodied vase: 5 13/16in (14.7cm) high
mallet vase: 5 3/4in (14.6cm) high
miniature vase and cover: 4 1/4in (10.8cm) high


Condition Report

Larger vessel: A few small iron spots and air bubble pinpricks but mostly unobtrusive.


Mallet vase: Neck rim reduced and polished. Some kiln glaze bubbles, frits and light, yellow stains to the glaze at the foot edge but mostly unobtrusive.


Small vase Small air bubble frit at the rim and small air-bubble pinpricks to the surface, mostly to the shoulder and the rounded foot. Fritting to the cover knop and a small bruise and edge chips at the rim.
